The Side Glide can be thought of as [[Glide-like stepping]] in a particular pattern.
### Leg position
Put weight on the leading foot. "Pull in" the lagging foot, and land on it:

"Push out" the leading foot, and land on it:

When initially drilling, focus mainly on smoothly transferring weight. Once you master that, refine your foot angle and hip rotation.
### Feet angle
Start in this position:

"Pull" your left foot in, as you straighten your right leg. Land on your left foot, with the left knee bent:

"Push" your right foot out, as you straighten your left leg. Land on your right foot, with your right knee bent:

Repeat to go the same direction.
To prepare to switch direction, leave your right foot facing out, and "stall" on it:
